Deadly car crash: California woman, 89, killed in four-car chain reaction crash

A 24-year-old Los Angeles man is facing vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges after the car he was driving set off a four-car chain reaction crash that left one woman dead and two others injured.

At 12:20 am on November 15, Lorenzo Gonzalez was travelling at a high rate of speed down Victory Ave in the Los Angeles suburb of Reseda.

He slammed into that back of a Nissan which then set off a chain reaction crash that killed 89-year-old Justina Lerrea.

Two other people were injured and treated at a nearby hospital for moderate injuries, the LAPD said in a statement released to TomoNews.

Gonzalez faces charges including driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is urged to contact the LAPD.
