A 13-year-old girl fatally shot herself last week, and the girl’s parents are pushing back against the school’s claims that the girl was not racially bullied for being Asian.

Emilie Grace Olsen was adopted by her parents from China when she was nine-months old.

Over the past several years, Marc Olsen told local media his daughter was bullied at school and online.

The school district claims the bullying was resolved when Emilie left elementary school, but the girl’s parents insist it continued into her seventh grade year and could have led to her taking her own life.

Fairfield police are investigating the case. Emilie did not leave a suicide note, but her friends took to social media to demand answers from the Fairfield school district.
