Single punch knockout death: Jarom Thomas killed by single blow used to settle car accident dispute

A Washington high school student was killed when a fellow student punched him in the face outside a party Saturday night for scratching his car.

“I’m really sorry for the family, their loss, I’m really sorry. If I could do something I would, OK? Please, I’m sorry,” said Michael Galen’s father, who felt beside himself for his son’s actions.

Jarom Thomas, 18, was at a party near Snohomish County when he left to grab something from the store.

When pulling out of the dark wooded cabin driveway, he hit Michael Galen, 18, who was inside his car with his Honda.

Instead of talking to his friend, he left but returned later to an angry Galen.

Thomas at his own demand to settle the dispute told Galen that he could be punched in the face one time.

The two then shook hands and smoked a cigarette together in the driveway.

After they were done, Galen struck Thomas once on the left side of the face with a closed fist and Thomas immediately fell back and blacked out hitting his head on the concrete pavement.

Friends called authorities and at first Galen wanted everyone to say the punch was in self defense before telling the truth.

Galen made his first court appearance on Monday, and currently has $10,000 bond for manslaughter charges.
