Shocking footage posted online that captured the fatal police shooting of Antonio Zambrano-Montes in the town of Pasco, Washington has caused outrage, according to a Tri-City Herald report.

The 35-year-old father of two was killed after allegedly throwing rocks at officers on Tuesday night.

Police had been called in after Zambrano-Motes, who reportedly battled with depression, began hurling rocks at cars at a busy intersection at around 5pm.

When responding officers arrived, police say he struck two of them with the rocks, one of them reportedly soft-ball-sized.

Cops tried unsuccessfully to taser Zambrano-Montes, who had priors and a history of erratic behavior, and chased him across the street, before firing multiple rounds at him.

The official police account remains scarce on details, according to the Tri-City Herald, but critics, reacting in outrage to the shocking footage, say lethal force was unnecessary.

The incident has sparked protests in the sleepy city, with family members and demonstrators calling for justice.
