Woman electrocuted by iPhone: Russian woman killed after dropping charging iPhone 4S into bathtub

A young Moscow resident lost her life after accidentally dropping a charging iPhone into her bath tub, according to a Daily Express report citing Russian media.

Evgenia Sviridenko had reportedly been using an iPhone 4S, which she had plugged into an outlet to charge as she bathed.

The 24-year-old is believed to have been browsing VKontakte, the Russian Facebook, when she somehow dropped the device.

Russian officials reportedly have yet to be establish why the charger failed to automatically cut off when it made contact with the water, which licensed Apple products are designed to do.

Sviridenko's roommate, Yaroslav Dubinina, discovered her lifeless body moments later.

Sviridenko had reportedly only recently moved some 1,400 miles to Moscow from her home town Omsk in south-western Siberia.
