South Korea murder-suicide: Man kills ex's current boyfriend, brother and father before suicide

A gunman shot dead three men on Wednesday in Sejong City, South Korea before turning the gun on himself.

The suspect reportedly took two hunting rifles from a police station in the nearby city of Gongju about two hours before the shooting rampage.

In South Korea, gun possession is strictly regulated and hunting rifle owners have to obtain licenses. Rifles have to be stored in a police station and access is only allowed during hunting seasons.

At around 8 a.m, the suspect opened fire on a 50-year-old man surnamed Kim, who was leaving home for work, according to Yonhap News Agency. The gunman then fatally shot Kim's father, who lived nearby.

The suspect later entered a convenience store and shot dead the store manager. He left after setting fire to the convenience store.

The suspect's body was found later by a river in Gongju. Reports said he died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Authorities have identified the suspect as a former boyfriend of Kim's younger sister. Shooting incidents are rare in South Korea because of the country's stringent gun control.
