Cops shoot unarmed man: St Louis man Thomas Allen dead after fleeing traffic stop

A man shot by a police officer as he drove away from a traffic stop in Wellston, Missouri on Saturday has died from his wounds, according to the St. Louis County Police
Thomas Allen Jr., 34, of Wyoming, St. Louis, died from gunshots wounds at an area hospital on Sunday morning.
The shooting occurred during a traffic stop at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Saturday in Wellston, St Louis.
Thomas Allen, a backseat passenger in the car, had already been searched for a weapon and cleared when officers saw him climbing into the front seat of the vehicle and attempt to drive away, with the driver of the car's five-year old daughter still in the vehicle.
One of the officers managed to jump in the passenger-side door and hang on as the car accelerated up the road while attempting to get Allen to stop. The two continued to struggle as the car sped along Morton Avenue before turning left into Chatham Avenue.
The officer then shot the suspect three times before the car veered left the road and came to a stop against the foundation of a house two blocks away from the start of the chase.
Allen's death is the seventh deadly shooting by St. Louis area police since August last year, when unarmed teenager Michael Brown was shot and killed by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson.
