Palestinian prisoners demand POW status

There are now approximately 6,000 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, but Israel refuses to grant them prisoner of war status. The prisoners have demanded recognition in accordance with international law and say that if their demands are not met within 45 days, they will declare a new hunger strike. Today in Gaza, prisoner advocates condemned Israel's solitary confinement and administrative detention policles. A Hamas spokesperson said that as a member of the International Criminal Court, Palestine can file charges of war crimes agsinst Israel regarding its prisoners.
