At least 14 people were killed and 30 injured when a huge scaffolding collapsed at an industrial complex owned by Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics group in the Vung Ang economic zone of Vietnam’s Ha Tinh province on Wednesday night.

Workers were building a huge scaffolding up to 30 metres high, according to reports in Thanh Nien News and Voice of Vietnam. The structure had started shaking before the accident, but the workers continued working. The structure then collapsed entirely, killing at least 14 workers and injuring 30.

The workers, all Vietnamese nationals, had been hired by South Korean company Samsung C&T to work on a seawall at the industrial complex, Thanh Nien News reported.
