Helicopter explodes midair killing Malaysian MP leaving VIP wedding

Several VIP guests and high-ranking government officials died in a helicopter crash in Malaysia on Saturday evening, after leaving the wedding of Prime Minister Najib Razak's daughter.
Former envoy to the US, and Member of Parliament, Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis, and chief of staff to the Prime Minister, Datuk Azlin Alias both died when the AS365N2 Dauphin corporate helicopter crashed in bad weather on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.
Also killed in the crash were pilot Clifford Fournier, co-pilot Eidiana Baiziera, businessman Datuk Robert Tan, and bodyguard to Dr Jamaluddin, Mohn Razkan Seran.
Dr Jamaluddin and others attended the wedding of the Prime Minister's daughter in Pekan, on the east coast, but left early. The helicopter stopped once in Muadzam Pahang, to drop off another guest, before continuing on toward Kuala Lumpur, where Dr Jamaluddin was scheduled to attend another wedding.
The helicopter was flying through a heavy downpour in Semenyih, southeast of Kuala Lumpur, when it exploded in midair at about 5pm. Asiaone News reports that a rubber plantation security guard witnessed the red AS365N2 helicopter explode in midair before crashing to the ground and exploding again.
Investigators have recovered the helicopter's blackbox. According to Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, the crash is being investigated by the Air Accident Investigation Division.
