Eduardo Pombal was inspired by the architecture of the world’s most iconic pools, the Art Deco movement and the swimwear of the 50s and 60s, to create one of his most fluid collections for the brand Tufi Duek. Various technological solutions were sought and found in order to present a contemporary and fresh version of these inspirations.
Lightness predominates in the color palette, with a lot of white, silver, off white and pink, as well as red, different shades of blue, and black. The outfits highlight the bust (with a pointed shape), the waist, and are designed with cuts that valorize women’s silhouette, and back.
With the shape of a bathing suit from the 60s, what appears to be a dress is actually a romper, which smoothly outlines the body. Heels worn with neoprene socks allude to the swimming slippers worn at the time. Cotton lace and raffia are among the fabrics chosen by the brand in order to translate this summer weightlessness. Razor cut textiles and patterns were inspired by the swimming caps of the decades. The terry cloth and crimped fabrics also come with a very soft touch, always prioritizing the movement of the garments. Some of them have delicate arabesque or floral prints in their wefts.
