I should mention that in addition to this workout, I walk everywhere. This is a condensed video of my summer fitness routine. The most important parts of working out are learning how to breathe and being easy on your joints. So if you want to start working out, especially with high intensity interval training, make sure your technique is good and that you know how to allow oxygen in. Explosive, dynamic interval training is a favourite of mine because it never fails to produce results.
I should also mention that I'm not stick thin because I EAT! My body type doesn't stay slim no matter what I put in it. I don't count calories, I just eat healthy foods and eat to feel good. I don't follow any particular dietary dogma, I eat all food groups in moderation. The nutritional world is so full of misinformation and bitterness, and I'm only interested in what makes me feel great. It's not good to guilt yourself or feel deprived all of the time. Listen to your body and do what makes YOU feel amazing!
VIDEO FAQ: Question: How often do you work out? Answer: I try to workout as often as possible, otherwise I'm susceptible to fall out of the routine. I work out at least 3-4 times a week. If I can't workout, I play. But I always try to be active, and college means less play and more working out.
Question: Do you take any supplements? Answer: I take raw fermented cod liver oil and sometimes drink Vega products, otherwise it's all just my routine diet which I try to keep as clean and healthy as possible
Question: Can you do more foods videos? Answer: Yes!
Question: Did you have a breast augmentation? Answer: No
Question: Do you use the treadmill or the elliptical? Answer: I prefer the elliptical because it can still be very intense but there is less impact. I'm not a fan of excessive cardio, though. I get a lot of cardio in every day life!
This is a real workout from a real girl. I'm not perfect and this is merely what works for me. This is also something that I have found to be realistic; something I could keep up with and do on a regular basis. I like that I can consistently keep going with this workout without feeling ill; just when I feel too exhausted to keep going with one exercise, I move onto another, and I can do as many cycles as I want! It's great!
I like high intensity workouts because I played sports when I was younger and it just felt really good to be sweaty and exhausted after, and nothing keeps me more lean. Full body workouts are better because they give your body practical strength and make you feel stronger. A lot of workout machines isolate a single muscle so if you're going to use those, throw in some full body exercises as well! Also make sure to change it up, my workout will be changed and modified throughout the summer.
Don't forget to play with weight, whether it be external weight or the weight of your own body. Your body continues to metabolize food for a longer period of time after weight training as opposed to straight cardio. I spend A LOT of time on my feet in every day life so this is a chance for me to really get my heart rate up for an extended period of time.
In this video I used ankle and wrist weights by Yogi and a 10lb dumbbell, I sometimes use 15 for my lovehandle workout, depending on my fitness level. I also drank water with a pre-workout energizer in it (Vega).
I hope this quick video is helpful!
Love and light, Kassie
