Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officer Vikas Swarup, whose novel Q&A was adapted into Danny Boyle and Loveleen Tandon's Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, will succeed Syed Akbaruddin as the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs. He is currently the joint secretary of the United Nations Political division, where he has been serving since September 2013.
