Many rivers flow through the Nalgonda district. The main rivers are the Krishna, Musi, Aleru, Dindi, Konegal, Paleru ,Pedavagu and Halia. Despite all these rivers flowing through Nalgonda,People are suffering with Flourosis , Lack of drinking water and water for Irrigation. Lets see the reasons on why in 850 villages of Nalgonda District, Telangana and 8,70,000 people are affected with Flourosis. This is highest effected region in the WORLD and UN should act on this. Nalgonda district was part of Hyderabad state under the rule of Nizam before Independence .The geographical area of the district is 14,217 sq.km, comprising of 4 revenue divisions, 59 Mandals, 1158 Revenue villages and equal number of Grampanchayaths. After the Andhra was separated from Madras, As they did not had machineryto run the Administration, They had eye on Prosperous, well developed, rich state with abundant Resources which is HYDERABAD STATE. After the forceful merger in Hyderabad state making it Andhra Pradesh , the Andhra leaders exploited every area in Hyderabad State and especially Nalgonda by changing the Nagarjuna sagar Dam design and stole the water, They failed to follow Bachawath Tribunal Report and Descriminated through G.O’s. Congress Government released Rs. 900 Crores for Nalgonda and all the money went to AP State Politicians personal Bank Accounts instead of utilizing to resolving the Floride issue.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) the flourine content should be in the range of (0.2 – 0.8) ppm but in Nalgonda some areas reached deadly levels upto 28ppm disabling generations and killing many. Nalgonda region is suffering due to the exploitation, injustice done by the successive governments in United Andhra Pradesh. The ground waters are becoming dry and unavailable for the people of Nalgonda. Due to which they dig 300 feet to 600 feet to construct borewells. 2 major Irrigation Dams were built in the country after Independence 1. Nagarjuna Sagar , 2. Srisailam, in the district of Nalgonda, Mahaboob Nagar of Telangana region which brought geological changes, building pressures in the ground of surrounding places, mainly the Nalgonda district. The deadly levels of fluoride entered the ground waters through Bore wells and is utilized for Drinking and Irrigation purposes which is hazardous. These waters of Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar Dams of mother River Krishna are being taken to distant places by crossing 5-6 districts of A.P i.e., to the regions of Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra, Tamilnadu upto Chennai and also towards the capital city of Telangana, Hyderabad. But the local people of the region where the river Krishna is flowing are deprived of these waters. The design of Dam is changed to help Andhra region ditching Telangana. Andhra leaders Violated all Proposals,Agreements and Bachawath Tribunal Report and diverted more than proposed water to Andhra by reducing the allocation to Telangana.TDP, BJP, CONGRESS , every party ignored the flourosis issue of Nalgonda and misused the funds sanctioned . Congress released Rs. 900 crores to resolve the issue and the politicians ate that money without taking care of the issue.
