Watch Lunar New Year celebrations around the world

The Lunar New Year — the Year of the Sheep, or Ram, or Goat, depending on which astrologer you listen to — has begun. Around the world, dancers, floats, fireworks and performers in panda costumes have helped kick off the celebrations.

Prince William, Prime Minister David Cameron, President Obama and Mark Zuckerberg were among many to send their best wishes. The Empire State Building changed color in honor of the festivities. And that, as you can see in the video above, only scratches the surface of the sheep-filled festivities.

While China holds the largest Lunar New Year celebrations, many places with a sizable ethnic Chinese population will also take part in the festivities. Check out the video to see how far afield they are.
