US Coast Guard Rescues Dog From Freezing River

A dog is safe after being pulled from freezing waters in Michigan. On Tuesday morning, U.S. Coast Guard officials in Frankfort were attending a meeting when one of the members saw the dog in the frigid waters of a nearby lake.

On Tuesday morning, U.S. Coast Guard officials in Frankfort were attending a meeting when one of the members saw the dog in the frigid waters of a nearby lake.

The crew didn't waste any time and quickly ran to the water. Petty Officer Tim Putnam swam about 200 feet away from the shore and shoved loose sheets of ice out of his way to reach the dog.

As he got closer, the animal seemed to sense Putnam was trying to help, so she tried to swim towards him. Putnam was able to reach the dog and pull her to safety with help from his crew.
