Obama and Modi usher new era in US-India relations

It was not that long ago that India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi was banned from visiting the United States. And relations between the two countries were at an all time low.

But old disputes seem to have been forgotten during President Barack Obama's visit to New Delhi, the second since he has taken office.

Modi broke with protocol to welcome the American president with a hug when he landed in the capital.

Pomp and pageantry also greeted Obama during India's Republic Day.

It didn't take long for the two leaders to announce they had agreed deals on nuclear energy and defence.

India and the US are talking about a new era of trust.

But what do the strengthening ties mean for the two countries?
