Protests continued in Haiti with demonstrators making urgent calls for President Michel Martelly to resign as they clashed with police in the capital. Haiti, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, is still recovering from a 2010 earthquake that levelled much of the capital, Port-au-Prince, and killed some 300,000 people.
