FSc Chemistry Book2, CH 3, LEC 8 Physical Properties and Preparation of Orthoboric Acid - Boric Acids (Part 2)

This video lecture from Group IIIA and Group IVA Elements (F.Sc. second year Chemistry) covers the physical properties and preparation of orthoboric acid. Orthoboric acid is a crystalline solid with triclinic crystal system. Hydrogen bonding holds the molecules together in the solid structure. Boric acid is partially soluble and its solubility in water increases with temperature. Boric acid can be prepared from colemanite, anhydrous borax or from boron trihalides.
