Nigeria: Boko Haram control north of Borno state
  • 9 years ago
People around Baga in Nigeria's northeast spent a weekend hiding and fleeing a Boko Haram onslaught. The militants' seizure of a key army base hands them control of the north of Borno state. Also, Burundi's army targets militia it believes has plans to disrupt upcoming presidential elections. Dozens are killed, while over the border UN and Congolese troops launch strikes against another Burundian rebel group.
Finally, two Americans with ties to the Gambia are charged in the US over last week's failed coup in the West African nation.
