Tennessee Volunteers vs. Iowa Hawkeyes Free Pick Prediction Taxslayer Bowl NCAA College Football Odds Preview 1-2-2015

The Iowa Hawkeyes will face the Tennessee Volunteers in the Taxslayer Bowl in an NCAA college football game scheduled for Friday January 2nd.

Kick off time from Jacksonville Florida is scheduled for 3:20PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by ESPN.

The betting odds from the Taxslayer Bowl have the Tennessee Volunteers the -4 point favorite with a total lined at 52 points. Those who play on Tennessee on the money line will lay -175 odds with the return on Iowa Hawkeyes at +150 odds on the money line.

This is the first meeting between these programs since way back in the 1987 season with Tennessee earning the 23-22 road win at Iowa as a +2 point wagering underdog.

Iowa fell to 7-5 with the 37-34 home defeat in overtime on November 28th to the Nebraska Cornhuskers as a -1 ½ point wagering favorite. The game ended at over 53 points. The Hawkeyes have lost two straight games.

The team put up 372 yards of offense with 142 rushing on 50 carries for 2.8 yards per carry. Jake Rudock hit on 19 of 38 passes for 230 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. Mark Weisman had 24 carries for 82 yards. Iowa had four turnovers and took two from the Cornhuskers. On defense the Hawkeyes allowed 363 yards to the Nebraska offense, 5 of 15 on third down along with 161 rushing yards on 31 carries for 5.2 yards per rush.

Tennessee is 6-6 and became bowl eligible with the 24-17 road victory on November 29th to the Vanderbilt Commodores as a -15 point wagering favorite. The total finished at under 49 ½ points. The Volunteers have on three of their past four games.

The Tennessee offense generated just 262 yards with 170 on the ground on 45 carries for 3.8 yards per carry. Joshua Dobbs hit on 11 of 20 passes for 92 yards and two interceptions. Dobbs led his team in rushing with 92 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns. Marlin Lane Jr. had 16 carries for 51 yards. They had trouble moving the chains going 3 of 13 on third down.
