Manufacturing a coffee maker that only brews one hot, fresh beverage at a time has proven to be a brilliant and popular idea, but not one without its own share of issues.

Keurig Green Mountain is recalling nearly 7 million of its Mini Plus single-serve brewers due to a defect that has caused a number of skin burns.

During use some units of model number K10, which at one time was called B31, have overheated and released a spray of hot water.

Those small appliances were sold from late 2009 to July of 2014, and were available both online and at retail stores.

Around 200 complaints pertaining to the escaping water issue have been lodged with the company, 90 of which involved injuries.

Keurig has announced that the problem is most likely to occur when two beverages are made one right after the other.

The recall mostly affects consumers in the US, although about a half a million units were sold in Canada as well.

Anyone with the system is urged to contact Keurig during this voluntary recall and likewise notify any gift recipients.

People who do will receive a repair kit free of charge.
