In a shocking case of medical negligence, two children were turned away by govt hospital in Bengaluru. 3 and half year old Akash lost his balance and fell while playing yesterday. He suffered serious injuries, but the hospital staff refused to admit him. They made the parents wait till 11:30 PM before finally saying that the boy needed to be put on ventilator support. They said that they did not have the necessary equipment and that they did not have enough number of beds. They later asked the parents to shift the boy to a private hospital. So, the parents rushed Akash to Indira Gandhi hospital. But yet again they were turned away after the hospital claimed they did not have the facility. Next, the parents rushed the boy to Vanivilas hospital where they also made excuses, but admitted the boy after media's intervention.

In another case, an 8 year old boy was admitted to Nimhans after he suffered a bout of fits. The hospital staff said that the boy needed ventilator support and directed the parents to get him admitted to a private hospital.
