Shias debate remark on Muharram ‘atrocities’, Mumbai - Tv9 Gujarati

Mumbai: Concerned over the Bombay high court calling the injuries inflicted on children during matam (mourning) in Muharram "very serious", a section of Shia scholars have said that they would debate the issue.The participation of minors in the matam where sharp weapons like knives, blades, swords are used to inflict injuries in memory of the martyrs of Karbala is now likely to be debated. On the other hand, religious leaders claimed that the injuries are not grievous and no infections have been reported. This is a matter of faith and no one can issue a fatwa or diktat to the community against it.
