An investigation was launched after sexual assault accusations surfaced against the former Canadian radio host of the show titled ‘Q’, Jian Ghomeshi.

According to the Toronto Police Service, the decision has been made to arrest and charge him with ‘four counts of Sexual Assault’ and one count of ‘Overcome Resistance – Choking’.

The Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes opened up a probe into the case on October 31st. The allegations came from a number of women, some of whom were co-workers, pertaining to sexual misconduct.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation or CBC terminated Ghomeshi in October after the alleged victims went to police and shared their stories with media outlets.

Ghomeshi later used Facebook to explain he had been fired by CBC due to his preference for consensual adventurous sex, which sometimes involved bondage.

His accusers, however, said that he was both verbally and physically abusive towards them and that it was in no way consensual. On Tuesday, Ghomeshi dropped a lawsuit against CBC for ‘wrongful dismissal’ and announced he would cover the legal fees.

Just one day later, he turned himself into police. He has since appeared in court, where he was released on bail.

He has been ordered to stay with his mother and relinquish his passport. According to his lawyer, Ghomeshi will plead not guilty to the charges.
