At least 15 inmates escape after second prison riot in Colombia

Police searched for at least 15 fugitives in Colombia on Wednesday following the second riot this week at a juvenile detention centre in Bogota.

Twenty-three inmates had already managed to escape during a similar riot and are still at large.

Prisoners again set mattresses on fire in the chaos, which started on Tuesday night.

The national police quickly brought the situation under control, and have begun a litigation process to identify those responsible, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the scene to extinguish the fires but no injuries were reported.

During the first riot, at least 27 police and security personnel were injured as well as several detainees.
