Rocks and tear gas fly in Mexico City on Friday (November 20) as scores of protesters faced off with riot police on the march towards the capital's international airport to express their outrage over violence and impunity after the apparent massacre of 43 trainee teachers.
In chaotic scenes, police tried to cut off protesters carrying sticks, bottles and rocks from reaching the airport.
Protest marches over the feared massacre, which the government has blamed on corrupt police in league with a drug gang and city officials, have overshadowed President Enrique Pena Nieto's efforts to boost years of sub-par economic growth via a raft of economic reforms.
The trainee teachers were reportedly abducted in late September in Iguala, Guerrero by corrupt police working with a drug gang, and their remains were apparently incinerated.
