Despite the announcement that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) would release captured General Ruben Dario Alzate and four others, the Colombian army continues its massive search for them, deploying 1,500 troops and planes and land vehicles. Alzate is the highest ranking military official to be captured by the FARC in the five decade long armed conflict. President Juan Manuel Santos said the suspension of peace talks with the revels will be lifted and his government is committed to negotiations. teleSUR
