Skanda Sashti, the sixth day in the month of Aippasi is celebrated in Saivite temples all over Tamil Nadu. It is dedicated to Subrahmanya. Skanda Sashti commemorates the destruction of evil by the Supreme, Lord Kartikeya, son of Lord Shiva and is celebrated with dramatic enactment of Soora Samharam.
