Eating Some Fatty Foods May Be Good For You

It's long been believed that people should limit their fat intake in order to maintain their health, but new studies show that may not be entirely true.

Foods high in fat have always been frowned upon by those hoping to stay healthy and maintain their weight.

Now it seems that common belief may not be true.

Scientist from different universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard reviewed the results of almost 80 studies and were unable to find proof that saturated fats cause a higher risk of heart disease.

Most surprising was the discovery that certain fats, including those found in dairy products, were associated with a lower risk of heart disease.

This doesn't mean you should start eating tons of red meat, butter or other saturated-fat rich foods.

Instead, other fatty foods such as nuts, fish, avocado and olive oil, should be consumed.

The American Heart Association believes eating more unsaturated fat, beans and vegetables help fight against heart disease.

One of the beliefs behind eating a fattier diet is that those who do are more likely to be satisfied. Those who follow a low-fat diet are more likely replace fat with refined carbohydrates.

This, in turn, causes people to consume more calories.

It's still undetermined which is the best approach when it comes to consuming saturated fats, but at the very least those coming from processed foods should still be limited.
