Sweden says reports of foreign submarine in its waters are credible

Somewhere in the cold waters of this archipelago in the Baltic Sea....a foreign submarine may be staying out of view.

At least, that's what Swedish authorities think, after what they say were several credible sightings of an underwater vessel in these waters some 50 kilometers, or 30 miles, off of Stockholm.

More than 200 Swedish military personnel are patrolling the area and local media say civilian boats have been told to stay away.

The military operation to hunt this mysterious vessel is Sweden's largest such mobilization since the Cold War.

It's reawakened memories of the final years of that east-west conflict, when Sweden used depth charges to flush out Soviet submarines along its coast.

THIS is the craft the military thinks it's looking for.

The military says it could be a submarine or a "moped-like" underwater vehicle.

Whatever it is, the government says, it doesn't have any business in Swedish territory.

It's all happening as tens
