UK starts Ebola screening at airports

Passengers arriving from a number of West African countries are being screened for the Ebola virus at selected airports in the UK, including the biggest – London’s Heathrow.
Similar checks will also take place at the capital’s Gatwick Airport, as well as at St Pancras International station, the Eurostar hub in central London.
“If we find there are difficulties in any part of the process then we will be taking whatever steps are needed to tighten the process up over coming days,” said Dr Paul Cosford, the mental and health protection director at Public Health England.
EU health ministers are meeting on Thursday to discuss the outbreak.
They will decide whether to introduce similar screening checks across all 28 countries of the European Union.
On Tuesday, a UN medic of Sudanese origin died in Leipzig, Germany after being evacuated from Liberia.
