You might expect to see bears in the wild or at the zoo, but certainly not in the urban jungle of Tokyo. Nevertheless, that’s exactly where one was recently spotted.

The massive polar bear was making its way through a crossing past a crowd of pedestrians. It was being walked by an attractive blonde woman.

Two masked men walked ahead of the female and the bear, seemingly making sure they had a clear path. The animal had a large sturdy collar on, while the leash was actually derived of chains.

Naturally, those who were out and about at the time stopped what they were doing to either stare or whip out their phones and take photos and videos. The woman was well-aware of all the attention they were getting, but didn’t say a word as to what was going on.

When visuals of the bear hit social media, speculations started spreading. The most popular assumptions are that the creature isn’t really a bear, but is either a person donning a very realistic-looking costume, or a robotic creature.

The woman and her bodyguard-like companions were wearing garments with the name of a mysterious Russian organization on them, but thus far the motive for the unusual stroll remains unclear.

A so-called reveal is scheduled for the end of the month.
