Protests in Paris for and against surrogacy and medically-assisted reproduction

Last year they turned out in force against gay marriage and adoption for same-sex couples; now it is against surrogacy and medically-assisted reproduction. Some 70,000 marched in Paris on Sunday.
One man said:“A man meets another man, they see each-other for two weeks, get together and then suddenly have a child. They will separate and then what becomes of the child? It’s the same for a woman, two women together is not normal. God created a man and a woman.”
But elsewhere in Paris a gay rights group organised a rally defending diversity in the modern family unit.
Guillaume Bonnet, the spokesman for the “All Out” group said:
“The people marching against equality are basically saying that there is only one unique model of family: you either fit into it, or you’re going to be excluded. But what we’re showing is that most of France, most of French families actually, don’t fit in that model, and that today family is about something very simple: it’s just about love.”
The French government has no current plans to legalise either surrogacy or medically-assisted reproduction. But those against it say they fear that will be the next step after gay marriage was made legal.
