The re-enactment of the killing of two British tourists in Thailand by the men accused of the crime took place amid tight security.

The 21-year-old Myanmar nationals who've allegedly confessed wore safety vests and crash helmets in case of lynching by onlookers.

(SOUNDBITE)(Thai) THAI NATIONAL POLICE CHIEF, GENERAL SOMYOT POOMPANMUONG, SAYING:

"These two suspects are the ones who committed the crime that day. The suspects admitted they are the real culprits so today we've brought both to do a reconstruction to confirm that police officers did their duty correctly."

The bodies of David Miller and Hannah Witheridge were found on a beach on the island of Koh Tao near their hotel.

The arrests follow weeks of pressure on police to solve the crime in the face of criticism over the quality of their investigation.
