Ahead of World Ballet Day, TV cameras got privileged access on Tuesday to a rehearsal of the world-famous dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre.
Russian prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova of the Bolshoi Ballet said it is good the public can finally get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes away from the stage and the lights. She also admitted she would find it interesting herself to see what happens inside the "kitchen" of various studios all over the world.
On Wednesday the Bolshoi, Royal, San Francisco Ballet along with the National Ballet of Canada staged performances, as part of World Ballet Day. The performances will be streamed live and include behind the scenes footage from the respective companies' rehearsal studios.
