It’s being referred to as the human flesh burger, however before you get too appalled, no flesh or body parts from people are in the patties. The burger, however, is said to have the same flavor of true human meat.

The unusual burger is the brainchild of Messhead, a partnership between Chef James Thomlinson of culinary company, London Mess, and food creative, Miss Cakehead. They created the meat to celebrate the start of 'The Walking Dead’s' season 5.

As part of the research to develop the burger, the duo studied the statements of well-known cannibals. Author William Seabrook is one of the individuals the pair read up on.

Seabrook described the flavor of humans, commenting “It was not like any other meat I had ever tasted. It was so nearly like good, fully developed veal that I think no person with a palate of ordinary, normal sensitiveness could distinguish it from veal.”

Using feedback from him and others, Messhead’s final recipe has veal, bone marrow, pork and chicken livers to get what they think is the correct texture and taste.

The burgers will be sold on Tuesday, September 30th at a pop-up in London.
