Corrie Nielsen, American-born designer trained in the U.K. kicks off Paris Fashion Week with a 60s-inspired futuristic collection.

STORY: London-based Corrie Nielsen's Spring/Summer 2015 "60s-inspired futuristic" collection kicked off Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday (September 23).

The American designer called her ready-to-wear range 'The Single Girl' and featured sculpted silhouettes and neatly tailored ensembles -- trademark Nielsen designs -- with an element of quirk.

Nielsen threw in modern curves into an otherwise subtly elegant and free-flowing collection as a nod to the 1960s.

"So I looked at Blade Runner, the Jetsons cartoon and Fifth Element is another great film to watch. So it's quite futuristic but then it has the 60s flair and you'll see that with some of the pieces, the hair, the make-up is more modern," she told Reuters Television.
