Whoever said theater is dead, take note - the stage musical of "The Lion King" has generated the largest total box office revenue of any production in any entertainment medium, with worldwide earnings of more than 6.2 billion dollars - that's 3.4 billion dollars more than the highest grossing movie ever - "Avatar." The musical beat out the previous record holder - "The Phantom of the Opera" - over the summer.
