North Korea sentences U.S. citizen Matthew Todd Miller to six years hard labor

That's American citizen Matthew Miller flanked by North Korean guards.

He's been sentenced to six years hard labor for committing what the government says were "hostile acts" against the country while entering North Korea under guise of a tourist.

These are said to be photos from his trial on Sunday.

North Korea hasn't elaborated on the charges against Miller.

The California native is in his mid-twenties and arrived in Pyongyang in April.

He reportedly ripped up his tourist visa on arrival and demanded asylum.

Miller is the second American currently serving hard labor in North Korea.

A third American is awaiting trial.

The U.S. says North Korea is using the three U.S. citizens as "pawns" and has demanded their release.

North Korea is under heavy U.N. sanctions for its nuclear program and has no formal diplomatic relations with the U.S.
