Tarana by Sur

'Tarana' is a Persian word meaning a song. Invented by Amir Khusro, it is a type of composition in Hindustani classical vocal music where certain words and syllables based on Persian and Arabic phonemes are rendered. This particular tarana, composed by Shri Gautam Mukherjee, is based on 'raag yaman' and has been blended with a traditional bandish in the same raag.
