Scottish independence vote neck and neck in new poll

Supporters of keeping Scotland in the United Kingdom have moved back into a narrow lead over the ‘Yes’ camp.
The YouGov survey for The Times and Sun newspapers puts the ‘No’ campaign ahead at 52 percent with less than a week before Scots vote on independence.
A survey last weekend gave Scotland’s independence campaign a narrow lead for the first time, putting the ‘yes’ camp at 51 percent.
Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is campaigning for ‘Better Together.’ “There is a better, safer, fairer, faster way of meeting the aspirations of the Scottish people. And that is by adopting the proposals that we have put forward for a stronger Scottish parliament, within the United Kingdom,” said Brown.
Scottish first minister Alex Salmond said an independent Scotland would look to join the European Union: “We will succeed, not because we have a wealth of national resources, important though they are, we will succeed as we maintain and build on the energy and the participation and the involvement of the people we have seen this campaign,” said Salmond.
The pro-independence camp says Scotland would be one of the world’s richest countries if it took control of its own destiny.
Scotland’s independence referendum is set to take place on Thursday September 18.
