Dunya News - Voter verification through finger prints impossible, countrywide process can last 10 years: NADRA

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Wednesday termed the voter verification through finger prints impossible, saying that the countrywide process can last ten years, Dunya News reported.
The NADRA sources said that the authority has to go through at least seven stages for verification. Counter file and Voter List will be obtained as per serial numbers in the first stage and the counting of Counter File in the second stage. The third phase will entail matching of pictured voter list with the Counter File. In the fourth phase is scanning and digitalization through which the biometric verification takes place. In the next phase, the process is repeated two to three times once the initial report arrives. In the last phase, NADRA prepares documentary report.
Meanwhile, Election Commission Punjab member Justice (retd) Riaz Kayani has send a legal notice to former Additional Secretary Election Commission Afzal Khan in which it is stated that Afzal Khan leveled baseless allegations.
The notice demands Afzal Khan to apologize within fourteen days.
Kayani said that he will seek Rs two crore in damages and will file a civil suit if Afzal Khan doesn’t apologize.
