Dunya News has obtained the draft prepared by government as a response to Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI) on Friday. Government has drafted its response after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s reply to the government negotiation team on Friday, Dunya News reported. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has again termed PTI’s demand seeking his resignation as unconstitutional.
According to the response drafted by government, the general elections held last year on May 11 were the most transparent and fair elections in the history of Pakistan and therefore, the rigging allegations by PTI have been termed as baseless. The draft denies the allegations that the general elections have been rigged. The government has further termed the demands by PTI as unconstitutional in its draft. The government has stated in the response that there is much difference between the current political situations and that of 1977. Framework of law and constitution alone can resolve the crisis at hand as per the response prepared by government. PTI’s members of National Assembly also took oath after the elections last year, the government argued. According to the draft, Pakistan Muslim League-N is ready for any electoral reform. The government response stated that the judicial commission to probe election rigging allegations would be formed under the Act of Parliament, adding that the judicial commission would not be based on an ordinance. Muslim League doesn’t agree with PTI’s proposed framework for judicial commission. PTI had proposed a summary trial of work methodology to be adopted by judicial commission which has been rejected by PMLN. The government however agreed that the joint investigation team would be formed according to the framework proposed by PTI leadership. In case, rigging is proved assemblies would be dissolved as per the government draft. Government also did not accept the proposal of forming a supreme monitoring council.
