SCRIPT
Teams of internationally renowned chefs, restaurant owners, tourists and villagers cooked and ate animal testicles at the World Cooking Championship in the remote Serbian village of Rudnik, Saturday. The challenge for this year's competitors was to make the best stew from testicles of kangaroos, horses, camel, bulls, calves, donkeys and other animals.
The championship was first held in 2004 and was organised to counter the political events of the time. It has since become a humorous festivity and proudly extols the virtues of eating balls, particularly the health benefits. Eating testicles apparently increases one's libido and can decrease cellulite. Testicles are known to be rich in minerals too, such as zinc and iron.
The creator of the festival Ljubomir Erovic injected humour in the event by creating an annual prize awarded to the "person with the biggest balls." So far, Russian President Vladimir Putin is leading in votes.
