Tearful Beyonce joined by Jay Z, Blue Ivy for VMA honor

It's not easy to raise the bar when you're one of the world's biggest pop stars.

But that didn't stop Beyonce from pulling out all the stops at the MTV Video Music Awards in California.

Her finale saw her perform a mini-concert at the end of the award show.

She led the field of winners in the evening, collecting best collaboration for her video with husband Jay Z, as well as best cinematography and best video with a social message.

That was as well as being presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award for her lifetime achievement in music.
