Police chief says officer in Missouri shooting was injured

Tensions remains high in Ferguson, Missouri, after a police officer fatally shot an unarmed black teenager last weekend.

The incident sparked racially charged protests -- and instances of violence and looting.

At a news conference, Police Chief Thomas Jackson says the officer involved in the shooting was injured in the incident, and was treated at the hospital.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) FERGUSON POLICE CHIEF THOMAS JACKSON SAYING:

"We're asking that the protest be peaceful, we understand the anger, we understand the people want answers and we understand that we've got a problem."

On Wednesday, protestors take to the streets again -- for peaceful demonstrations.
