UN boss Ban Ki-moon condemns deadly Gaza school strike as 'criminal act'

“A moral outrage and a criminal act.”
They are UN head Ban Ki-moon’s words for the latest deadly attack on a UN-run school sheltering displaced people in Gaza,as Israel continues to pound the enclave.
Palestinian officials say the strike in Rafah killed 10 people and wounded about 30 others. Eyewitnesses reported that the victims were queuing for food when the missile landed near the entrance.
The UN Secretary General said those responsible for what he called a “gross violation of international humanitarian law” should be held accountable.
“The locations of all of these installations have been passed to the Israeli military multiple times,” said Robert Turner, Director of Operations for the UN Palestinian Refugee Agency in Gaza.
“They know where these shelters are. How this continues to happen… I have no idea, don’t have words for it. I don’t understand it.”
Following this second attack on a school in less than a week, there was no immediate comment from Israel which accuses Hamas of using civilians as human shields.
Some reports said all the dead were from one family, including a baby, born in the early days of an offensive which Palestinians say has now killed nearly 1,800 people, mainly civilians. The Israeli army has lost 64 soldiers, with three civilians killed in Israel.
