Alex Hunter, a teenager from Delano, California that had all of his teeth removed after radiation treatment during two bouts of cancer has raised the money for his dentures using the crowd funding site gofundme.

His family’s health insurance is provided by the state because his mother works for Bakersfield, but they refused to pay the eleven thousand dollars for his dentures.

The boy’s grandmother is quoted as saying: “They say it's not a medical issue but they know they took out the teeth because of a medical issue. It feels like the insurance is just bailing out on him.”

He decided to have his teeth removed because they became weak after the radiation.

The insurance company helped to pay for the teeth removal, but they won’t cover the costs of dentures.

It only took 20 hours to reach the goal of eleven thousand dollars, and now the gofundme site has surpassed 15 thousand dollars.

Alex was diagnosed with cancer at four years old, and again at thirteen from what experts believe to be side effects of his first chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Doctors think he is once again free of cancer, but they are waiting to do one more scan in October.
