Israeli ground forces patrol Gaza

on Friday (July 25), searching for weapons, according to footage shot by Israel’s Channel 10 TV.
The TV crew joint the Givati Brigade, as they travelled to Gaza’s Khirbet Khze’a neighbourhood and walked through the rubble-filled streets, past a destroyed mosque.
Givati Brigade Commander Colonel Ofer Winter told Channel 10 the soldiers were searching the deserted houses for weapons used by Hamas.
“Hamas‘ strongest group was holding this place. They had a lot of militant infrastructure. There isn’t a house without evil — or almost, it’s incredible. We will go there. All these houses have militants‘ ammunition in them. This house over there is a Hamas bunker. All we know, what I can say regarding this operation, is that we are conducting it forcefully. We hit dozens of terrorists here,“ he said.
Israel launched its Gaza offensive on July 8 to halt rocket attacks by Hamas and its allies, which have struggled under an Israeli-Egyptian economic blockade on Gaza and were angered by a crackdown on their supporters in the nearby occupied West Bank.
After aerial and naval bombardment failed to quell the outgunned guerrillas, Israel poured ground forces into the Gaza Strip 10 days later, looking to knock out Hamas’s rocket stores and destroy the vast network of tunnels.
